SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL ECONOMY

The local business community is the economic engine for our region. I envision the City of Nelson to be actively supportive, welcoming and efficient when interacting with the business community. We need to foster good relationships and strengthen our vibrant local economy.

Housing

Previous city councils and organizations in our community have worked hard to address the housing crisis but there is much more work to be done. I will be seeking relevant and replicable solutions to address the housing crisis. In many cases tweaking existing bylaws, programs and policies will go a long way in increasing the availability of affordable housing in Nelson.

environmental sustainability

We all felt the impacts of climate chaos this year. Nelson needs to be a leader in reducing our environmental impacts and ensuring we are resilient in the face of climate change. Keith Wiley from Ecocentric on Kootenay Co-op Radio wants to see Nelson as the eco-capital of Canada - I fully support this vision!

SUPPORTING SENSIBLE CANNABIS POLICIES

We must work with the federal government to allow our existing cannabis growers and dispensary to easily transition to the local market. Barriers to entry must be lowered so it is not only corporations that are able to exist. I envision the Kootenays to be a hub for sustainable, independently funded, cannabis cultivation.

Childcare

Let's work with local organizations to leverage available Provincial funding to increase affordable, flexible, childcare spaces in Nelson.

Recovering our resources

The Regional District of Central Kootenay is committed to developing an organics composting facility for our region. If elected, I will show leadership and ensure the City of Nelson fully engages and supports the RDCK's efforts.
